Changes and news
The sections of this guide grow as the work goes on: we add how-tos, case breakdowns and new glossary entries. The feed below shows what has been added or changed. We do not publish news about changes in the law; instead, we explain how to check for yourself which version is in force right now.
A summary of a law goes out of date before the law itself does. When your deadline or your rights depend on the wording, read the original.
The feed shows only new and updated sections of the guide itself. Changes in the law are not reported here — below you will find how to check them yourself.

How to check the current version of the law
Open the official source
Russian laws are published on the Official Internet Portal of Legal Information. Summaries on other websites, including this guide, are fine for orientation but do not replace the text itself.
Find the law by its details
Search by full title, date and number — for example, Federal Law No. 59-FZ of 2 May 2006. That reduces the chance of confusing the document you need with a similar act.
Check the version date
A law in force may have several versions. Make sure you are looking at the current one, and note the date from which it applies.
Check the references to amendments
The text usually notes which laws introduced amendments. If the article you need has changed, reread it in full in its current wording rather than in fragments.
Compare with the dates of your letters
Match the wording you found against the dates of your letters and note whether the rule changed during that time. If you are unsure how to interpret it, it is best to consult a lawyer.
